Vessel

Vessel is an installation that formed in the shape of the letter “I”: a thin aluminum pole filled with water stands on a 3D printed cast of the artist’s shoe, crowned with live flowers on top. Ao uses the iPhone’s Dot Projector, the TrueDepth camera used by Face ID, to capture the three-dimensional data of his shoes, resulting in a 3D replica with rough surface texture. Both technological and organic, each Vessel houses the artist and the viewer’s self-reflection.
